Voyage Houston – January 5, 2021
Today we’d like to introduce you to Jacqueline Camphor.
Jacqueline, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I was a student athlete (softball and track & field) who enjoyed participating in pageants and performing on stage. When I wasn’t doing any of that, you could find me in love with writing and captivated by movies inspired by true stories. However, when it was time for me to decide what I wanted to be when I grew up, I defaulted to my strongest subjects in school of math and computers, never seriously considering a career in sports or entertainment.
I grew up in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and graduated from Douglass High School with a full academic scholarship to Langston University in Langston, Oklahoma. I double majored in accounting and computer science with the aspirations of leveraging technology to advance the accounting industry. And I went on to do just that… that is to help elevate the accounting industry through technology as a consultant, implementing accounting software or enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems as they’re also called for fortune 500 companies.
Early in my corporate career, I gained credibility as a rare find because my clients loved that I was a certified public accountant (CPA) who could also implement their accounting system. Today, not only am I a CPA, but I am a certified tax coach (CTC), wealth strategist, and bestselling author. Even still, the sports and entertainment world never left my thoughts.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but I think life would have been less interesting if it had. It was through some of the challenges that I learned the most about myself and experienced some of the best moments of my life.
I experienced two layoffs in my career both of which ended up being tremendous blessings. Sometimes we’re just holding onto something we’ve outgrown. When that happens, it’s time to move on and be introduced to a new level in our journey. Through the second layoff, I was postured to start a boutique financial services firm in Dallas, Texas called Accentuals Consulting. A few short years later, I had the unique opportunity to move our headquarters to Houston, TX and now we celebrate ten wonderful years in business.
Accentuals Consulting – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
In 2018, I founded a sister company called Affluence, Inc. that focuses primarily on retirement planning and wealth management. I am looking at doing more collaboration with our sister company so that our clients get a one-stop shop financial experience. We also have some big things cooking up for our sports and entertainment clients that we will be unveiling in the coming year. So stay tuned!
